International Yoga Day at GMFC

On 21st June 2019, the NSS Unit of Goa Multi-Faculty College, Dharbandora, Goa, organised a programme to celebrate the International Yoga Day from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm. The program was conducted under the leadership and supervision of Principal Dr. Shaikh Mohammad Parvez Ai-Usmani, and students from BCOM and BCA participated in the event wholeheartedly. The Resource Person for this function was Shri Suresh Kolvekar, a respected Yoga trainer from Patanjali Yoga.

 

In his welcome address, Principal Dr. Shaikh Mohammad Parvez Al-Usmani pointed out that since the whole world is now embracing yoga, we as Indians should enthusiastically celebrate this ancient tradition of yoga not only on the International Yoga Day, but on a daily basis.  He further emphasised that yoga is shown to reduce stress and increase overall productivity.

 

Thereafter, the Coordinator of the GMFC NSS Cell, Asst. Prof. Ulhas Bansode, introduced and welcomed the Resource Person Shri Suresh Kolvekar.

 

Before beginning the yoga demonstration and practice session, the Resource Person enlightened students and faculty on how yoga contributed to a peaceful and enduring life. After this, students performed various yoga asanas under the able guidance of Shri. Suresh Kolvekar.

 

Finally, Mr. Elroy Pinto, The Director of Physical Education, concluded the function with a formal vote of thanks, where on behalf of all GMFC students and staff, he expressed gratitude to the resource person and voiced our aspiration to embrace a holistic healthy lifestyle. Asst. Prof. Sandhya Joseph was the event compere.
