Women’s Day Celebration

Women’s Day was celebrated at GMFC on Saturday, 9th March 2019. This event was organized by the Anti-Sexual Harassment & Women’s Cell of the college

On this occasion, the Principal of GMFC, Dr. Shaikh Mohammad Parvez  Al-Usmani, wished every women staff and student member a ‘Happy Women’s Day’. He further assured students and staff members of his complete support whenever the Women’s Cell undertook any programme for the development of students.

The highlight of the celebration was a talk by Dr. Smitha Parsekar who was assisted by Dr. Pooja Gaude.  In her talk on ‘Health & Hygiene,’ Dr. Parsekar explained why it is important for each woman to love herself as an individual. She also discussed various health risks that young women are particularly vulnerable to and mentioned ways of safeguarding oneself from these medical issues.

The talk was followed by a small celebration arranged by the female members of the Students Council. Students took this opportunity to display their appreciation by offering flowers to every female staff member. Representatives of the Students Council also tied bands on the wrists of every female staff member as a symbol of feminine unity and strength. This was followed by the cutting of the ceremonial cake. The event ended on a joyous note with everyone wishing each other.
