Talk on Legal Rights Delivered by Law Students at GMFC

 

Six students from Govind Ramnath Kare College of Law, Margao, visited S.P.E.S’s Goa Multi-Faculty College, Dharbandora, Goa on Monday, 27th January 2020 to deliver a special talk with the aim ‘to promote legal awareness and sensitize students on the rights of children and young adults.’

Asst. Prof. Kalpita Naik, the Convenor of the Women’s Cell, was given the charge of organizing this event; she was assisted by Asst. Prof. Sandhya Joseph. The comperes for this occasion were Miss Sujatha Rathod and Miss Sharda Sonar from F.Y.B.Com.

The event began with the Principal Dr. Shaikh Mohammad Parvez Al-Usmani welcoming the law students with flowers and explaining the importance of this special talk. He stated that increasing awareness about legal rights is one essential step in empowering ourselves.

In the course of this session the students from Govind Ramnath Kare College of Law spoke about various aspects of the legal system in India.

Ms. Priyanta Melekar dealt with issues pertaining to health and nutrition. Ms. Sunita Khetri explained the various attributes of laws designed to combat Ragging. Ms. Jyothi Gosavi and Ms. Anjali Borkar shed light on the legal safeguards available to tackle Child Abuse and Child Trafficking. Ms. Melfa Cruiz talked about Child Labour and Ms. Yogita Kamat spoke on Right to Education. This was followed by an interactive question & answer session.

The event ended with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Rahul Kerkar from F.Y.B.Com.
