STUDENT COUNCIL INAUGURATION

The Inauguration of Student Council 2017-18 of Goa Multi-Faculty College, Dharbandora was inaugurated on 23rd August 2017 at the hands of dignified luminaries. The Chief Guest for the inaugural was Mr. Madhukar Phal (Managing Director – Goa Human Resource Development Corporation). Also present on the occasion were Mr. Ganesh Gaonkar (Chairman SSPES & Ex MLA of Sanvordem Constituency), Dr. Manasvi Kamat (Principal – GMFC) and Mr. Eknath Shirodkar (Convener – Student Council).

While addressing the gathering, Principal Dr. Manasvi Kamat congratulated all the elected representatives and urged them to plan and implement varied activities during the academic year. She also extended gratitude to all those involved in election process for ensuring smooth conduct of Council elections. Floral welcome of all the dignitaries was followed by formal inauguration of program by lighting the lamp. All the Council members were formally introduced by Mr. Eknath Shirodkar and florally congratulated by the Chief Guest.

Further, Chairman of SSPES, Shri. Ganesh Gaonkar stated that now that all the council members have been elected, they should exhibit some leadership qualities and act as role models for the rest. He insisted that they should make the optimum use of the leadership platform provided to them and hence work towards betterment of their own personalities, betterment of student community and of the institution as a whole.

By virtue of being elected you all have got position but that does not make you a leader, to be a leader you need to demonstrate leadership qualities; asserted Chief Guest Shri. M D Phal while addressing elected representatives. Through his corporate world experience he guided the crowd on how to develop leadership traits in oneself. Right from discussing the true essence of leadership, he led them through different styles of leadership namely autocratic, democratic and laissez faire. He also outlined with examples various qualities which a leader needs to possess. He also directed students on different initiatives that council could take up during their tenure as elected representatives. Over and above he emphasized that besides having behavioral traits a leader must have knowledge about his work domain so he appealed students to study hard and acquire utmost knowledge as it would serve as base for their future progress.

Soon after address of the Chief Guest, Oath was administered to all the council members by Student Council Convener Mr. Eknath Shirodkar. The Oath was taken by Mr. Shubham Kushte as General Secretary, Mr. Prajyot Bhamaikar as Cultural Secretary, Mr. Mehaboob Tehsildar as Sports Secretary, Ms. Chandan Diwani as Ladies Representative and by all the Class Representatives of BBA, BCA and BCom. Program ended with Vote of Thanks by General Secretary Mr. Shubham Kushte.
