Purple campaign for Gender Equality

The Internal committee of Goa Multi-Faculty College organized ” Purple campaign for Gender Equality” in collaboration with Womens study programme, Goa University on 30th January 2025 at 11.00 am for the students of TYBBA, TYBCA and TYBCOM.

The Internal Committee of Goa Multi-Faculty College organized “Purple Campaign for Gender Equality” in collaboration
with the Women’s Study Programme, Goa UnUniversity, On 30th January 2025, at Goa Multi-Faculty College hall.
70 Students participated for the programme from BBA, BCA and BCom Courses.
The campaign aimed to spread awareness about gender equality, empower students, and encourage discussions on breaking
gender stereotypes.
The programme commenced at 11.45 am with the traditional Lamp Lighting Ceremony, symbolizing enlightenment and
progress toward gender equality.
The dignitaries were respectfully escorted to the dais, marking the formal beginning of the event.
The Principal of Goa Multi-Faculty College Professor Dr. Shaikh Mohammad Parvez Al-Usmani delivered a warm
welcome address, highlighting the significance of gender equality and the role of education in fostering an inclusive
society.
The esteemed guests, Dr. Sulochna Pednekar, Programme Director Women’s studies, Ms. Vithai Zaraunkar, Assistant
Professor in Women’s studies, Ms. Preeti Verma and Mr.Aniket Bagayat students of MA womens studies,were honored
with a floral welcome as a token of appreciation for their presence.
A brief introduction of the dignitaries was provided by Ms. Suchi Gaonkar,College Counsellor,emphasizing their
contributions to gender equality and women’s empowerment.
The invited speakers Dr. Sulochna Pednekar and Ms. Vithai Zaraunkar conducted an insightful session on gender equality,
addressing key issues, challenges, and solutions to promote inclusivity and empowerment.
Informative and thought-provoking videos related to gender equality were shown to students, encouraging discussions and
deeper understanding and also engaging group activities were conducted to foster teamwork and discussions on gender-
related themes, allowing students to express their views.
To recognize and encourage active participation, spot prizes were awarded to students who contributed meaningfully
during the activities and discussions.
All students who attended the campaign were awarded participation certificates in appreciation of their involvement in the
event.
A special segment was dedicated to awarding prizes to the winners of the Women Empowerment video competition
organized by the Counselling Cell of the Goa Multi-Faculty College, . These videos showcased creative perspectives on
gender equality and the empowerment of women in society. A team from FYBBAB class won the first prize and a of
FYBBAA Class won the second prize.
Further, the Mementos were presented to the guests as a token of respect and the gratitude.
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Ms. Suchi Gaonkar, expressing gratitude to all the dignitaries,
organizers, and participants. This was followed by the National Anthem and a group photograph to commemorate the
successful campaign.

Conclusion:

The Purple Campaign for Gender Equality was an enriching and impactful event that effectively promoted awareness,
engagement, and meaningful discussions on gender equality. The participation of students, along with the insightful
sessions and activities, made the campaign a resounding success. The event reinforced the importance of collective efforts
in building an equitable society and inspired students to be advocates of gender equality.
