Prudent media having an Interactive session on Mental Health and Awareness on Account of National Adolescent Health Programme

 

The Directorate of Health Services had finalized Prudent Media TV channel to conduct 10 shows on ‘Yuva Health’ in various educational institutions around  Goa. As part of this programme, Sachin Surlikar and Shirish Kunkolikar from Prudent Media visited S.P.E.S’s Goa Multi-Faculty College, Dharbandora, Goa, on Friday, 7th Feb 2020. Programmes recorded in this series are Telecast on Friday at 9:30 pm, and repeat telecasts are available on Sunday at 5.30pm & Tuesday at 12.30pm

The T.V. crew  were accompanied by Dr. Renuka Chawan, Dr. Roma Gaonkar, Consellor Sudesh Gaonkar and IEC Supervisor Prajacta Chari from the Primary Health Centre at Pilliem, Dharbandora.

The Principal, Dr. Shaikh Mohammad Parvez Al-Usmani warmly welcomed the representatives of Prudent Media and the Primary Health Centre at 10:00 am and he expressed his whole hearted willingness and desire to further collaborate with the Primary Health Centre in the near future.

Shri. Sachin Surlikar (TV anchor) interacted with a cross section of students from B.COM., B.C.A. & B.B.A. classes and asked them questions pertaining to health, sex education, traffic sense, mental health etc. He also provided tips on how to handle unexpected problems that life can sometimes throw at young adults. 

Though the programme dealt with serious issues, Shri. Sachin Surlikar kept the tone light, conversational and fun; therefore, the student participants fondly cherished participating in this activity. Students also received T-shirts and other prizes.

This activity was part the Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram (RKSK). The broad objectives of the programme were to gauge students’ nutritional habits, promote awareness about substance abuse issues, make students mindful about matters related to sexual & reproductive health, stimulate discussion about sound mental health etc.

Asst. Prof. Kalpita Naik, Asst. Prof. Sandhya Joseph, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ganji and Asst. Prof. Subhasish Mohanty, Counsellor Ravina Markar and MTS  Saiprasad Naik helped in managing this session the GMFC campus.
