One day workshop on “Creative expression”

Students of BBA department of Goa Multi-Faculty College Dharbandora had participated in one day workshop on creative expression organised by Goverment College of Arts, Science & Commerce Quepem, Goa on 5th December 2015 at Dr. Francisco Luis Gomes, District Library South Goa.

Prof. Shrivastav Naik, the Principal of Government College Quepem welcomed the dignitaries and all the participants. Creative writer Shri. Damodar Mauzo was the chief guest for the function. Prof. Mrs Deepa Prajith welcomed the guest. Further Prof. Mrs Brenda Coutinho explained the key notes of the function. She said that creativity doesn’t mean something that is copied but it is something original. In his speech, the chief guest for the function Mr. Damodar Mauzo emphasised mainly on three things. Emphasising on language, he said that, “to become a creative writer you should choose a proper language. A language in which you are able to communicate with other people.” Secondly, he emphasised on observation. He said, “to have a good creative thinking you should have a good observation skill.” Thirdly, he ended his speech by emphasising on mind. He said, “A creative mind should be like soil which bares everything, all kinds of seasons and all kinds of difficulties, yet it doesn’t forget its role to sustain the life on Earth.”

The second session began at 10:45 a.m. on “Creative Expression”. Prof. Mrs. Brenda introduced the resource person Mr. Jose Laurenco. With the help of pictures he focused on how to maintain dream diaries for the purpose of creative expressions. He also showed pictures of his own maintained dream diaries, note books and other things where he jots down his points as well as pictures of the books written by him.

The next session began at 12:00 p.m. on “Pictures speak louder than words” by Mr. Pantaleoan Fernandes. He showed many documentaries which were based on traditional occupation of people in Goa. This session was headed by a panel discussion by Dr. Fatima Noronha, Fredrick Noronha and Leonardo Fernandes. It was indeed an insightful session wherein the speakers focused on publishing a work of art.

The workshop was adjourned with a vote of thanks by Prof. Mrs. Brenda Coutinho.
