EVS field trip – visit to Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary

F.Y B.Com students visited Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary and Zoo. EVS field trip.

On 24th February, 35 students of F.Y BCA along with two teachers, incharge of field trip Mrs. Siddhi Amadkar and Ms. Chaitali Joshi went for a environmental studies field trip to Bondla wildlife sanctuary and Zoo .The aim to visit wildlife sanctuary and Zoo as a part of curriculum. We arrived there at 12.45 pm

The objective of field trip was to get exposure to nature and surrounding and study eco-tourism site. Planning and management of eco-tourism site

 We started with the visit to zoo which is most popular with children, families and eco-tourist. It includes deer safari, botanical garden and nature interpretation centre. I explained students about sanctuary and zoo that it is covered in moist deciduous forest with few patches of evergreen vegetation. Common tree found there is state tree of Goa Termanalia crenulata (matti) and Rosewood.

 Students then have looked around animals kept in Zoo. They includes the Gaur, crocodile, snakes, leopard, wild boar, porcupine, spotted deer, parakeets, emu bird etc. it is also a home for many birds such as drongo, bulbul, robin, woodpecker, hornbill etc.

After a visit to Zoo around 2.00 pm students had their lunch. Then we went in Botanical garden it has many different plants flowering and non flowering which enhances the beauty of garden. It also has many fruit bearing trees on which many birds and insects feed. Then I explained lifecycle of butterfly, their feeding and breeding habit with the help of posters displayed there.

Students also learnt about planning and management of eco- tourism site. Bondla is great trip in natural beauty and it also includes overnight stay with better facility. Researchers who come to study can stay and carry out their work. Students learned something new and beneficial to them also enjoyed the natural beauty of sanctuary and zoo.

Our trip ended up about 4.45 p.m., we thanked the officials and concluded our field trip and reached to the college at 5.15 p.m
