3rd GMFC Book Exhibition cum Book Fair inaugurated at the hands of Shri. Nilesh Dhaigodkar, Dy. Collector, Dharbandora-Goa on 13/03/2023.
SPES’s Goa Multi-Faculty College, Department of Library & Information Science, Dharbandora-Goa in association with the Bookmate has organized a book exhibition-cum-book fair on 13th March 2023 at the college premise. It was inaugurated at the auspicious hands of Dy. Collector, Shri. Nilesh Dhaigodkar of Dharbandora-Goa in the presence of the College Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Shaikh Mohammad Parvez Al-Usmani, Mr. Ajit Faras, College Librarian, Ms. Nilaxi Chari, Library Committee Coordinator, Ms. Milan Gaonkar, BCA Faculty, and other Teaching and Non-Teaching faculty/staff of the college.
Addressing the function, the chief guest urged students to regularly visit the library and make books their best friends for their growth. Further, Shri. Nilesh Dhaigodkar advised them to make use of the library for preparing for competitive exams. Knowledge is the power that can be only gained by adopting the habit of reading good books he stated. He also appealed to the college to make arrangements for a book fair in the interior taluka of Dharbandora schools. Earlier college principal Prof. (Dr.) Shaikh Mohammad Parvez Al-Usmani welcomed the audience and appealed to the students to make the best use of the exhibition by purchasing the books and also by recommending a book to the college library. Elaborated further, he said that through books the students as well as the faculty members can enhance their knowledge and become good human beings by contributing to society’s development and urged students to at least spend 20 minutes reading daily. The Principal complimented Mr. Ajit Faras, College Librarian, and, the library department for organizing such an event to enthusiast the love for books amongst the student community. Mr. Ajit Faras, College Librarian proposed a vote of thanks while Ms. Milan Gaonkar compared the function.
The main aim behind organizing an exhibition is to educate students and faculties about new books based on recent trends & Technology.
The Bookmate showcases books on various areas such as Commerce, Law, Economics, Management, Research Methodology, Sports, Fitness, Yoga, General books, Environment, Management, Novels, and others. Bookmate interacted with students and faculties with great zeal. Competitive exam reference books were also on display. The book exhibition-cum-sale was visited by Student & Staff members of the college. The fair was open from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The staff members also made use of the opportunity to equip our library with the necessary books by placing orders with the books sellers. Discounts ranging from 15 to 20 percent were also given by the booksellers for all the purchases made at the exhibition. There was an overwhelming response from the staff and students alike.
