NSS Volunteers Contribute to Watershed Conservation Through Shramadan Activity
On 6th February 2025, the NSS Unit of SPES’s Goa Multi-Faculty College, Dharbandora actively participated in the Watershed Yatra’s Shramadan activity, organized by the Department of Land Resources, Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India. A total of 125 NSS volunteers took part in a Prabhat Pheri (awareness walk) and a cleaning drive at Shiraval Field, Davkond, Dharbandora. The initiative aimed to promote watershed management, environmental sustainability, and community-led conservation efforts.





The Watershed Yatra aimed to raise awareness about watershed management, promote
sustainable resource conservation, and encourage community-led environmental action.
The event included a Prabhat Pheri (awareness walk) and a Shramadan (cleaning drive) to
instill a sense of responsibility towards environmental sustainability among participants.
Activities Conducted:
- Prabhat Pheri (Awareness Walk):
The NSS volunteers actively participated in an awareness walk to educate the local
community about the importance of watershed management and environmental
conservation. Volunteers carried placards, chanted slogans, and interacted with villagers to
spread awareness. - Shramadan (Cleaning Drive):
Following the awareness walk, the volunteers engaged in a cleaning drive at Shiraval Field,
Davkond. They removed waste, cleared debris, and ensured the area was clean and
environmentally friendly. The activity aimed to demonstrate the importance of cleanliness
and sustainable resource management.
Impact and Outcomes:
Increased awareness among local residents about watershed conservation.
Strengthened the spirit of community service among NSS volunteers.
