REPORT of Exposure Visit held on 17th March 2023 for S.Y. and T.Y. B.Com. Students
Visit to Krishnadas Shama Goa State Central Library, Panaji, Goa
Department of Commerce of SPES’s Goa Multi-Faculty College, Dharbandora in association with Department of Library & Information Science of this college organised an exposure visit at Krishnadas Shama Goa State Central Library, Sanskruti Bhavan, Patto Centre, Panaji, Goa on 17th January 2023 from 10.a.m onwards for SYBCOM and TYBCOM students, three Faculty members, Ms. Kalpita Naik, Dr. Subasish Mohanty and Mr. Ajit Faras, College Librarian accompanied the students. Total 34 students participated in the said visit.
We reached at the Central Library at 11.00 a.m. Ms. Siddhi Shetkar, Librarian Grade III, welcomed the students and faculty members. She had an interaction with the students regarding their reading habits, hours they spend in reading, visiting their college library and other district public library etc.
Later she took us on the library tour, she shared the information about huge collection of books, journals, magazines and their locations, OPAC facility to find books and its locations. We were shown some centuries & decades old books, newspaper available to read and refer, the collection of numerous books in the fields of economics, finance, commerce, accounting, management, Goan history, sports, literature, science, Information Technology and so on. She also briefed regarding bibliographic details of books, journals, reports, current affairs, general knowledge, books on competitive exams, manuscripts, kids’ section, brail section, study room, reference section and so on.
Further she briefed books preservation process, Library membership procedure, accessing availability of books from home, how to avail Inter-Library loan and other facility available in the library. Dr. Sushant Tandel, Curator also interacted with the students during the course of visit.
The visit ended at around 1.00 p.m and the participants expressed their positive feedback about the visit by sharing their experiences and expressed gratitude to the organisers for such learning experience.

Environmental connect at Mangrove Boardwalk, Panaji – Goa.
The Department of Commerce of our college has organised an Environment Connect visit to Mangroves Broad Walk on 17th March, 2023 at Patto, Panjim just to sensitise the students about preservation of natural vegetation and their importance on ecological balance. SY and TY B. Com students participated in this environmental connect. A total of 34 students alongside 3 faculty members (Ms. Kalpita Naik, Dr. Subasish Mohanty & Mr. Ajit Faras) were the part of the visit.
During the course of the visit, the students were taught the formation of mangroves and the specific climatic requirements for them to grow. Mangroves are usually found in estuaries, where the river and/or other water bodies usually meet with ocean water. It requires a typical water salinity which is neither very brackish not very sweet as well and usually grows in swampy areas. Students were also told the importance of having mangroves in controlling flood levels in the coastal regions, and checking coastal erosions.
The visit ended at around 2:30 p.m. and the participants expressed their positive feedback about the visit by sharing their experiences and expressed gratitude to the organisers for such learning.
Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Pvt Ltd, Verna Industrial Estate, Verna- Goa
An Industrial visit to Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Private Limited, Verna Industrial Estate, was held for the SY & TY B. Com students of our college. This visit was scheduled with an objective to gain the practical knowledge about functioning of the company. Total 34 students and 03 faculty members attended the same.(Ms. Kalpita Naik, Dr. Subasish Mohanty & Mr. Ajit Faras) were the part of the visit.
At security point, Safety & Security instructions were briefed to the students to be followed inside the plant by the Coca-Cola officials. Later, the Operation executive Mr. Darshan and Mr. Yatin took us towards plant Operations. He briefed the students about the various operations of Coca-Cola, machinery/technology used in production, industry environment and automation of Coca-Cola bottling process.
Information on various production like Thumps up, Sprite, Coke, Diet Coke, Maaza, Kinley (Mineral water & Soda) were also shared with us. The students were also demonstrated the overall bottling and packaging process through various assembly lines and were given detailed tour of the same to gain practical knowledge.
Further he explained us on couple of steps which are taken to clean bottles before filling, treatment of water to make it standard in taste and so on.
We had an opportunity to observe the entire production process in the plant through the glass windows. Operation executives also addressed queries posed by the students like quality control measures and testing, packaging and labelling etc. After the visit free samples of their products were distributed to us.
Overall, it was an enriching experience, where students got an opportunity to understand the manufacturing process inside the plant and it was informative and exciting to learn. The session was with filled with question followed by the answers from the officials. This trip was quite a learning experience for the students and they expressed their willingness to participate on such events in future times to come as well.
