NATIONAL LIBRARIANS DAY

The Department of Library and Information Sciencein association with Library Committee of Goa Multi-Faculty College celebrated ‘National Librarian’s Day’ on 12th August 2020 by garlanding the portrait of Dr.S.R.Ranganathan.

Speaking on the occasion in his keynote address, Principal Dr. Shaikh Mohammad Parvez Al-Usmani highlighted the vital role of the library in making it excellent abode of knowledge and further stated that “Library is the sanctum sanctorum of knowledge”. He emphasized the importance and requirement of reading habits amongst the public especially the student community. Principal stated that library provides an excellent ambiance which is a pre-requisite for the pursuit of knowledge. He appreciated the role of a library staff in making such ambiance and further added that they should work hard to attract readers towards the library in a naturally and organically way. He urged them to be innovative and devise an appropriate mechanism to attract students in the current digital world and urged the staff faculty to visit the library more often and keep abreast of latest knowledge.

Earlier the function startedwith thelighting of traditional lamp by Principal Dr. Shaikh Mohammad Parvez Al-Usmani, Librarian Mr. AjitFaras,Dr. Manasvi Kamat, and other Library Committee staff members. Mr. AjitFarasCollege Librarian gave a brief overview of the programs and informed that National Level E-Quiz competition is organized as a part of celebration by Library and Library Committee.On the occasion masks distributed to all staff members of the college.
