State Level Workshop on Arduino Based Quadcopters (Drones)

S.S.P.E.S’s Goa Multi-Faculty College conducted a two day State Level workshop on 27th and 28th March 2019 on Arduino Based Quadcopters(Drones) This workshop was organised in association with Robonics LLP’s EduTronics based in Gujarat. The Resource Person was Shri. Gaurav Yadav, Chief Technical Officer at EduTronics. He has a graduate degree from National Institute of Technology, Karnataka, and is currently based in Bengaluru. SYBCA student Mayuresh Naik was the student coordinator for the workshop and Asst. Prof Nisha Sawant was the faculty coordinator.

 

The workshop began with a short inaugural function. The Chief Guest for the inaugural function was Shri. Ganesh Gaonkar, ex-MLA of Sanvordem Constituency. Shri Ganonkar spoke about the need to bridge the gap between academics and industry requirements. He emphasised the importance of such workshops as it would enhance the knowledge base of students. Principal Dr. Shaikh Mohammad Parvez Al-Usmani also spoke about the need for such activities for the overall development of students. Further, he stressed on the need of organizing such type of workshops for the benefit of the student community as they help them in affording hands-on training of contemporary requirements.

 

During the workshop, the Resource Person Shri. Gaurav Yadav covered various topics like Microcontroller basics, Coding basics, Controlling LED using Arduino Blink and Fade programs, Basic Electronics, Assembling and Flying the Quadcopter.

 

50 participants from four colleges attended this workshop.  The participants were provided hands-on training; at the end of the workshop the participants were able to fly their own drones.

 

The Chief Guest for the valedictory function was Prof. (Dr.) Sunil Kumar Singh, Director NIO, Dona Paula, Goa. He spoke about the lack of innovation in India despite the large population. He emphasized on the importance of research and innnovation and shared his own experiences of using the drones for sample collections in his research activities in the oceans. He congratulated the BCA Department for organizing such a valuable workshop. Also present on the dais were the Chairman of S.S.P.E.S, Shri Ganesh Gaonkar; Principal Dr. Shaikh Mohammad Parvez Al-Usmani; Resource person, Shri. Gaurav Yadav; Coordinator for BCA, Shri. Sandesh Gaonkar and the student coordinator for the workshop, Shri. Mayuresh Naik.

 

The workshop concluded with a working demonstration of the drones built by participants during the workshop.
