SHIKSHAK/SEVA BHUSHAN AWARD CEREMONY 2015

Goa Multi Faculty College is ceaselessly dedicated towards undertaking ground-breaking activities beyond the academic framework for the varied fragments of society. Continuing this legacy, this year too on the Occasion of Teacher’s Day, College organized Shikshak/Seva Bhushan Award Ceremony at Late Sadashiv Marathe Hall, V. S. Laad HSSC Complex, Pilliem-Dharbandora. Program aimed to recognize those Teachers and Non Teaching Staff Members who have rendered outstanding service, extraordinary devotion towards their educational institution; have exhibited boundless enthusiasm, eagerness to share knowledge and have created congenial learning environment in their institution. 29 Teachers and 09 Administrative Staff from varied Higher Secondary Schools across Goa were felicitated with the Coveted Shikshak/Seva Bhushan Award, Citation, Srifal and Shawl at this Award Ceremony held on 5th September 2015 at 3.30 pm.

Program witnessed the presence of renowned luminaries in the form of Adv. Narendra Savaikar (Chief Guest), Shri. Dilip Betkekar (Guest of Honor/Key Note Speaker), Shri. Ganesh Gaonkar (Chairman, SSPES) and Dr. Manoj Kamat.

Program commenced with a musical welcome by First Year Students of Goa Multi Faculty College. Further, Shri. Ganesh Gaonkar (Honb’le MLA of Sanvordem Constituency) welcomed all the dignitaries and dignified gathering for the Award Ceremony. Chairman of SSPES asserted that Teachers play a pivotal role in every individual’s life and it is our prime responsibility to respect them and never forget this person who shares his/her vast repertoire of knowledge with us.

Principal of Goa Multi Faculty College, Dr. Manasvi Kamat introduced the Chief Guest Adv. Narendra Savaikar whereas, Vice Principal Mr. Prasanna Kumar Ganji had the privilege of introducing Guest of Honour & Key Note Speaker Shri. Dilip Betkekar. Other dignitaries on the dais were introduced by the Compeer Shri. Jeetendra Naik. Program was formally inaugurated by lighting the traditional lamp at the hands of the eminent dignitaries.

Highlighting the gigantic growth of the college since its inception in June 2013 till date, Dr. Manoj Kamat stated that in terms of Student’s Strength, from the initial strength of 80 it has increased to 365 today; and in terms of Staff Strength, it has increased from 2 to 27 today. Just in a span of 3 years, college through its innovative learning methodologies, multitude programs, through use of modern technology and research activities has created a distinct presence in the educational portals of Goa, he asserted. There is a need to transform ourselves from tutors to real teacher. He added Shikshak Bhushan has five connotations; we need to evolve from being Adhyapak to Pradhyapak to Upadhyak to Acharya to Guru.

At this juncture, Chief Guest Adv. Narendra Savaikar inaugurated the college website, whereas Staff Directory was released at the hands of Guest of Honour.
Shri. Dilip Betkekar, the Guest of Honour and Key Note Speaker of the function, enlightened the gathering with his thought provoking words. As a teacher, we need to love the work that we do, be happy, cheerful and inculcate a Positive, Winning and Gratitude Attitude. No one teaches anyone in this world, Teacher just helps, guides and creates environment for learning, he stated. A Teacher cannot teach, unless it continues to learn, he asserted. While speaking on the much debated topic “Are Computers Replacements for Teacher”, he opined that Technology can give Information but not Inspiration. Till the time Computers don’t pat back on the student’s back, till then they can’t take the place of Teacher. Swami Vivekanand said, “We need men with Capital ‘M’ and Shri Betkekar ended with message, “We need teachers with Capital ‘T’. With his mesmerizing talks, proverbs and examples he indeed grabbed the eyeballs of the entire crowd.

Teacher Inspires and Motivates. You can forget your Boss, but not Teacher; were the words of Chief Guest Adv. Narendra Savaikar as he addressed the venerable gathering for Shikshak/Seva Bhushan Award Ceremony. Teachers bear a major influence on student’s life and the bond established between them remains lifetime, he emphasized. Teacher’s Day is a day to remember such teachers and he appreciated Goa Multi Faculty College for this noble initiative.

Meticulously chosen teachers and administrative staff were felicitated at the hands of distinguished dignitaries with Award, Citation, Srifal and Shawl. Shikshak Bhushan Award was presented to Teachers by Chief Guest and Seva Bhushan to Administrative Staff at the hands of Guest of Honour. Awards were conferred in the presence of eminent Guests, Teachers, their family members and Students.

Sandip Dattaram Gauns, Smt. Nisha Anna Cherian, Smt. Surekha Sanjay Naik, Shri. Anselmo Subash Fernandes, Smt. Talat Ara Shaikh, Rev. Fr. Walter Miranda, Smt. Maria Arcanja Fernandes, Shri. Anacleto P. Gracias, Shri. Sayed Suleman Salia, Shri. Pravin Punaji Neswankar, Smt. Mita Kedar Naik, Smt. Vinaya N. Honnekeri, Smt. Maria Yvonne D’souza, Smt. Swati A Prabhu, Asgaonkar, Smt. Urvashi Manesh Kawlekar, Shri. Geetesh Tato Satarker, Shri. Sanit Shambhu Naik, Shri. Madhukeshwar Devaru Hegde, Smt. Pratibha Pradhan, Shri. Santosh Arjun Gawas, Smt. Sulakshana P. Sawant, Shri. Seva Bhushan Award 2015 was presented to 9 Administrative Staff members namely Shri. Satyawan Anant Naik, Smt. Sumitra Vithal Naik, Shri. Pandhari P.Gauns, Shri. Ramdas Dadu Naik, Shri. Avinash Talwar, Shri. Mahendra Chandrakant Kenkre, Shri. Ulhas Vishwas Desai, Smt. Vidya Rajaram Kapileshwarker and Shri. Nanda Shaba Malekar.
Secretary of SSPES, Shri. Arun Bicholkar proposed vote of thanks and wholeheartedly thanked everyone for their precious contribution in making event successful. Special thanks were given to the sponsors of the function, Oriental Bank of Commerce, Ponda. While evaluating the program, two teachers, Smt. Nisha Cherian (Kamaxi HSSC) and Smt. Bharati Jadhav (Gurukal Academy) thanked college for honouring them with this much coveted award.

On the whole, program went on very smoothly, and Goa Multi Faculty College received lot many accolades for this encouraging initiative and for wonderful hosting.
