VOLLEYBALL REPORT
The inter college Volleyball tournament was held at Shyama Prasad Mukherjee indoor Stadium, Taleigao from 12th to 17thFebruary 2020. The students practiced for 1 month to prepare for the tournament. The practices were held at a school in Dharbandora. A total of 28 students20 Boys and 8 Girls attended the coaching camp out of which 12 boys and 8 girls were selected to represent the college. A coach was appointed to prepare the team for the championship. The boys team was coached by Mr Aaron Pereira and the girls team was coached by Mr Pratik Dessai.To prepare for the tournament the students were also taken for practice matches to different colleges. It was seen that the students performed well in all these matches.
In the first round our college boys captained by ShubhamAkralkarfaced Goa college of Home Science, Panaji. In a very hard fought match our college boys defeated Home Science in straight sets. It was a brilliant performance by the boys. The second match that is the pre-quarters was played against Swami Vivekanadacollege, Borim. It was another hard fought match by the students. The students won in straight sets. In the quarter finals the college team faced Govrernment College, Pernem. In a tough match our college won2-1. In the semi finals the college faced Dempocollege, Cujira. In a hard fought match the college lost 3-0. Throughout the training and the tournament the students showed a brilliant performance and hardwork. The boys team also participated in Inter College Volleyball tournament organized by Don Bosco, Panaji. In the 1st match they defeated Government College, Quepem. In the Semi Finals the team lost a hard fought match against Goa University.
In the women section the college played against Don Bosco Engineering, Fatorda in the 1st match. The team was captained by SanjanaGaonkar from SYBBA.The girls team lost in straight sets against a very tough opponents. The girls team participated in inter college Volleyball tournament organisded by Government college, Pernem.In the 1st match against Government college, Sanquelim the team lost a hard fought match. Overall it was a satisfactory performance by the students.
